Season Six

There are so many reasons why I love this Company and the work produced by it. The work clearly shows in the dancers delivery - how they interact with each other and the space itself - that they have had the time in the studio to develop these connections. Time is a fundamental ingredient in producing beautiful, multi layered concepts that have depth, light and shade, context and emotional connection. When a body of work is given time, when the dancers are given time, that is when the magic really happens. OZMA is a perfect example of this. Director of Dance Dr., Lucy Eaton should be heralded for creating this organic, unique experience for dancers. Eaton harnesses the gifts of each individual dancer and you can see the one-on-one work she dedicates to this process through the dancers connection with their own performance. I was also excited to see the development of many of the artists from last season. Shae Acevski from Studio 23 and Bethany College is superb, her lines, musicality and ability to bring such a gentle ease to all her movements makes her mesmerising to watch. Niki Trifon, TNSPA.pro Graduate is fierce in her delivery and can hold the stage on her own with remarkable focussed energy. Hannah Fulker from Turning Pointe Academy of Dance and Bethany College unravels her performance with wonderful complex expression creating a depth of character well beyond her years. Isabella Russell from iDance@Lugarno and Georges River College, Oatley Senior Campus can extend her limbs forever and like Hannah connects well with her performance. Dominique Kulchar from Mary Geer Dance Academy and Bethany College also delivered a strong and sensitive performance. Olivia Graham from Studio 23 and Bethany College and Skye Thadanabath from Caper School of Performing Arts should both be commended on their commitment to their craft as over the past 12 months I can see a dramatic improvement in technique and performance quality.
