Season NINE

2022

"Dance Dr. presented a fabulous work this season showcasing the craftsmanship of Artistic Directors, Lucy Mary-Claire Eaton’s company dancers. Veteran Company members, Bella Russell, Niki Trifon, Shae Acevski, Olivia Graham, Sofia Canestro, Jasmine Wong, Amelie Carrie and Piper Tarr, alongside newcomers, Lexie Cook and Talisa Barcelon, delivered exceptional performances.

Lucy has a wonderful connection with each of the artists which is evident by the technical standard of each performer and how they relate to one another during the performance. Choreographers this season showcasing works alongside Lucy’s were by, Chloe O’Shea, Bella Russell and Niki Trifon.  The company dancers are strong and the affects of COVID were no where to be seen, however this year I was particularly drawn-in by the mature performances of each artist, particularly with Niki and Shae. Both artists craftsmanship and expression profoundly connected with me. Niki’s performances felt deeply personal, more so than previous years. It is very easy to be moved and mesmerised by her mature and nuanced movement. Shae’s knowledge of her craft is superb. She moves with such grace and care, I am captivated  as she ravels herself around the movement and travels across the space. Olivia has grown both as an artist and in her knowledge of contemporary dance. She demonstrated an increased ability to incorporate light and shade in her movements. Bella is just divine, her presence seems to strengthen and comfort you. Lucy has an incredible gift of nurturing young artists through the shared love of contemporary dance. I just love how she utilises Senior and Junior company members. Creating works that allow both to thrive. Each artist is given opportunities to shine and centre themselves in the space so that they can perform at their best. Both groups garner wisdom and strengths from each other and this shows in the work delivered on stage.
